Now Officially a Parrothead!

Last year, I wrote a blog about my first experience attending a Jimmy Buffett concert at Alpine Valley Music Theater in Elkhorn, WI. https://https://www.bodywipecompany.com/the-flight-of-the-parrot-heads/  In this blog, I stated and I quote: “I now realize why Parrotheads migrate back to see Jimmy Buffett live in concert year after year. For I too will be part of this Parrothead migration next summer.” Well, I kept my word and this past Saturday night, I attended my second Jimmy Buffett concert at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The first thing I noticed between this years concert event versus  last years, is the elimination of the pre-concert tailgating. Instead, this year, hundreds of people were hanging out at the outdoor bars and restaurants around Wrigleyville. As show time was upon us, the mass of people pre-partying in Wrigleyville started making the short walk to the stadium. As Jimmy took the stage, the crowd cheered and came to their feet, as they got into the groove of his signature Caribbean sound. Once again it hit me during the song “Fins”, when everyone was swaying their hands back and forth over their heads, that a Buffett concert is really an adult version of The Wiggles for drunken people! As Jimmy finished his last encore song of the night up in the bleachers of Wrigley Field, the massive stadium crowd peacefully headed to the exits. As we made our way back to the car, I was still singing verses of Margaritaville to myself. I realized again why Parrotheads migrate back to see Jimmy Buffett live in concert year after year. For I too will be part of this Parrothead migration again next summer (for a third time!). “Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame, but I know, it’s my own damn fault.” It definitely is…again!
